Bagan, the Ancient City The ancient city, Bagan was the capital of Myanmar’s first dynasty built by King Anawrahta in 1044AD. Today 2217 old monuments and temples are still standing out of 4446 in the past. All monuments spread within 42sq Km of a semi-desert like plane on the eastern bank of Ayeyarwaddy River. Riding horse-cart through the crop fields and some hundreds-year old temples can take one’s soul to the timeless world. Bagan Around Ananda The finest Mon architectural piece by 9.5 meter 4 Buddha images and 10.6 meters high 4 teak wooden gates. Ma Nu Har It is said that king Ma Nu Har captured by king Anawrahtar constructed it to represent his displeasure. The gigantic size of three Buddha images and their cramped posture is showing the king Ma Nu Har’s feeling. Nan Phayar Located just behind Manuhar Temple. It is said that it was used as a prison for king Manuhar. Gu Byauk Kyi An early style temple with sand stone carving and painting inside were believed to be the oldest remaining in Bagan.
